Robo Rally

Robo Rally Resources

Robo Rally is my #1 favorite game. A logic and movement manipulation game, that is customizable and modular to your hearts content. Everything I love in a game, and best of all I’m good at it :)

When Wizards of the Coast was bought by Hasbro they had not published Robo Rally for quite a while. When the Avalon Hill brand was brought into the fold Hasbro moved the board game line over to them, and Rob Rally was reborn. Many would argue not for the best. While there are tings that could have been done better, this version is not the horrid monster that some make it out to be.

One of the things that was removed in the AH version as being complicated was Virtual Bots. Unlike others I think that the starting board is a good alternative for new players, and there are plenty of ways to mitigate the seeming advantages of certian placements. But for advanced players Virtual bots are a great way to go. Unfortuneatly the pieces available in the AH set are not condusive to virtual bots. The archive markers lack good directionality to them.

I decided to solve that. Using NanDeck, a tool designed to creating decks of cards, some scans of the archive markers and a little photoshop magic I’ve created sutable graphics to recreate the Virtual Bot markers. Here are some files to recreate your own:

* NanDeck files – A .zip file of the NanDeck script and bot images to create the images
* Pdf file – A pregenerated .pdf of the images.

Shown here is my green set after I printed out the images on a full sheet label and stuck them to the back of the archive markers. The original Virtual bots had red arrows, and I have a set of those as well, but I happen to have 2 full sets of the Avalon Hill vesion. Did I mention I love this game.
