On Extragavances…

Why do we buy large $$ items. Especially when they are not something we need. I have no clue, but somethimes the things we don’t need are just things that we “have to have”.
Ten years ago a little game was released called The Settlers of Catan And not to long after it made it to the states, we were playing it, and it was the impetus that drove us into Board Games as a hobby opposed to Card and RPG. Many expansions and derivitives have come out over the years, and it has been generally considerd on of the top board games of all time.
So 10 years rolls around and your game is this big. What do you do as a company to further promote this game. Come out with a Commerative Limited Edition so that “saps” like me will suck it up.
Humor aside on that, it is a lovely edition and worth it to us. Lee compared it to that avid chess player that has the elegant set. They may not use it all the time and probably play chess on a more basic set 10x more often. But it’s something that they needed to have to show thier “dedication” to the game.
